I am very sorry to hear about the closure of Walsingham House, the only wholly residential first stage treatment centre for addiction and alcoholism in Bristol. I was a resident there and it has been a fundamental part of my recovery, giving me a good foundation to build on, at a time when I would not have managed to stay sober outside in the community and needed to concentrate on what I have to do to stay well. I hope it reopens again soon as it has helped a lot of people over the years and also took in people who were dual diagnosis, usually overlooked by other agencies, but helped immensely at Walsingham. If anyone reads this who can help, please do as it is a sorely needed service in the midst of a growing problem.
